Trampoline Pads
How And When To Replace Your Trampolines Pad
A trampoline pad or safety pad is the outer, padded covering of the trampoline. Basically it's there to save you getting hurt if you bounce outside or off the mat of the trampoline itself. Continued use of any trampoline will mean the replacement of this item - especially if your kids (or you) love to use the trampoline a lot. Being a piece of safety equipment the pad is not something you should leave to chance or attempt to repair yourself. Stitching it back together yourself or wrapping pieces of foam around exposed areas is not a good idea - any repair work should be left to the hands of experts only.
When should you replace your trampoline pad? Normal wear and tear caused by repeated usage, sun damage and general age of the equipment will cause some of the parts to wear out, which is perfectly normal. A trampoline pad will typically need to be replaced every four to six years, so if you are in need of a replacement pad for your trampoline, there are quite a few online resources available to help you with information on how to purchase a new one. Basically at the first signs of any wear or damage to the pad you should look at replacing it as quickly as possible. You definitely don't want to become another painful statistic in trampoline accidents.
So where can you get a replacement trampoline safety pad? Trampoline Parts and Supply offers several different varieties of pads in different sizes. Their replacement pads are noted to fit all manufacturer brands of trampolines including Jump King and Hedstrom. One thing they do mention on their site however, is that if you own the type of trampoline that has a safety enclosure with poles that are bolted to the inside of the frame, you will have to cut the pad to make it fit properly. Aside from that, they really do have a lot of sizes and styles to choose from.
How much can you expect to pay? This will all depend on the size of the trampoline itself. To figure out what size replacement pad you'll need for your trampoline you'll need to measure it (your trampoline that is) from outside edge to outside edge. For example if your trampoline measures 12ft 10 inches then you'll need a 13 foot replacement pad, if your trampoline meaures 13ft 8inches then you'll need a 14 foot replacement trampoline pad. Replacement pads are available from about $50 but shop around to make sure you're getting the best deal.
Don't play on doing any bouncing until you've replaced the faulty or worn trampoline pad. Once replaced both you and your family can get back to having some fun and healthy exercise all rolled into one.
